Funeral Rites for James Kelley
Funeral Rites were held for James Ernest Kelley, 59, of Grand Saline, Saturday at the W. Y. Goff Funeral Home, the burial
being at the Horton Cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. Bobby Young.
Kelley, a member of the Baptist Church since childhood, died suddenly at his home in Grand Saline, Thursday, Dec.
10. He was retired from the U. S. Army and a retired Civil Service employee, belonging also to the Odd Fellow Lodge. He was
born the son of Will W. Kelley and Mattie Gay Kelley, April 29, 1911, in Horton Community. Being survived by his wife Lourea
Manry, whom he married in Rockwall on Jan. 9, 1947; his three daughters, Mrs. Pauline Walker, Mrs. Patsy Spurgeon and Mrs.
Rita Mathis all of Dallas; his step-mother, Mrs. Annie Burns of Commerce, his two brothers, Eddie Kelley of Levelland and
Leon Kelley of Austin; his six sisters, Mrs. Dent Clark and Mrs. Cleaon Fielding of Commerce, Mrs. Exher Earwood of Sulphur
Springs, Mrs. Gay McDonald of Seagoville, Mrs. M. R. Cook of Belton, and Mrs. Thomas Wright of Mangum, Okla.; three step-sisters,
Mrs. Mae Follis of Sulphur Springs, Mrs. Faye Abbott and Mrs. Kanna Lou Arnold of Ft. Worth; five step-brothers, Arvel and
Earl Moreland of Commerce, Wylie and Jeff Moreland of Plainview, and Marvin Moreland of Suphur Springs. Kelley is also
survived by 13 grandchildren.
