RICHLAND HILLS -- Willie Mary Summers, 95, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2004.
Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Monday in Moore Funeral Home Chapel, Arlington. Burial: Exray Cemetery in Exray. Visitation: The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Willie Summers was born Oct. 13, 1908, in Erath County. Willie retired from Montgomery Ward as an order filler in the catalog department on the sixth floor of the Seventh Street store in Fort Worth. She was employed by Convair manufacturing plant during World War II.
She worked in concession stands at the original LaGrave Field, Fort Worth's Will Rogers Stock Show and Rodeo, Ice Capades, Shrine Circus and almost every event that was held at Will Rogers Coliseum until her retirement in 1967.
Willie Summers was the 11th generation of her family born in what is now Texas, and was very proud of her Texas heritage. She lived in Fort Worth for 31 years before moving to Newark after she retired. She moved to Hurst in 1992.
She was a member of Shady Oaks Baptist Church in Hurst. Willie was a resident of C.L.C. Care Facility. However, she lived in the hearts of her family and friends.
Survivors: Daughters, June Rouse of Gordon and Shirley Branam of Hurst; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
