Commerce Funeral services for Dan Jacob Smith, 81, of Commerce, will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Jones Memorial
Chapel in Commerce, with the Rev. N. D. Gilmore officiating. Burial will be in Horton Cemetery.
Mr. Smith died Tuesday
night in a Commerce hospital.
He was born in Delta County, June 3, 1894, to John and Bytha Adams Smith.
He was married
Sept. 25, 1915 in Delta County. His wife, Willie Clayton Smith, proceeded him in death. He had lived in the Commerce
area all of his life and was a member of the College St. Baptist Church in Commerce.
Survivors include three daughters;
Mrs. Fronia Roberts of Commerce, Mrs. Bytha Abbott of Fort Worth and Mrs. Erma Sue Hodges of Bridge City; as sister, Mrs.
Ethyl Reynolds of Sherman; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Pell, Dent Clark,
Arvel Moreland, James Wilson, James Rittle and Earl Reagan.
