Archie Carl Skinner, Sr. (September 02, 1894-March 02, 1949)
SKINNER, Archie Carl of Rockdale. Age 53. Died 3/01/1943 (Tuesday) at his home following a stroke suffered on 1/8. He
was in poor health with a kidney ailment for over 10 years prior to death. Services held 3/3 (Thursday) at Phillups &
Luckey Funeral Home, Rockdale. Burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Rockdale. Revs. T. Miller Smith of the Methodist Church
and Linwood Peterson of the Baptist Church officiated. He was BORN 9/2/1895, the son of M/M A. H. Skinner, at Black
Jack in Burleson Co. Married Miss Ludie Hillin on 10/9/1924, and 5 children were born to this union. Small son, Archie
Carl, Jr. died some years ago. Mr. Skinner was a member of the Baptist Church. He was a resident of Rockdale since a young
man, a barber by profession and also, an assistant on a rural mail route. SURVIVORS: Wife, Mrs. A. C. Skinner, 3 daughters,
Mrs. Ralph Poole of Detroit, MI., who was at her father's bedside recently; Mrs. John Terry of Caldwell; Miss. Peggy Skinner
of Rockdale; son, Wayne Skinner of Rockdale; 2 brothers, W. I. Skinner of Rockdale, J. P. Skinner of Bartlett.
Note:Archie was a barber by trade. Archie's obit says that he is buried in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Rockdale, Texas,
there is no record of either him or his wife being buried there.
