MINGUS - Raymond Henry Penning, 83, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, at a Fort Worth hospital. Funeral: 2 p.m. Sunday
at Stephenville Funeral Home. Burial: Exray Cemetery in Erath County. Visitation: Family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m.
Saturday at the funeral home. Raymond Henry Penning was born Oct. 5, 1915, in Glenvil, Clay County, Neb. He was employed
by Container Corporation of America, eventually becoming a supervisor. He retired in 1978, after 32 years of service. He spent
the remainder of his life as a farmer and rancher. He was the proud coach of the undefeated Huckabay Men's Senior Softball
Team. He was a Lutheran. Ray Penning will be greatly missed by all who loved him and knew him. He had been a resident of Mingus
for 33 years. Ray joined the United States Navy in 1941, and was a veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his
father, mother, sister, and one brother. Although Mr. Penning never had any biological children of his own, he was a wonderful
father and grandfather to his step-family. Survivors: Wife of 33 years, Sue Penning; stepson and daughter-in-law, Willie
N. and Brenda Fulfer of Weatherford; brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Norma Penning of Hastings, Neb.; niece, Janie Schuppan
of Hastings; niece and husband, Connie and Dave Eldred of Plano; and several step-grandchildren. Stephenville Funeral Home
