Woman is killed by fire, mobile home is gutted.
Conroe: Investigators are awaiting autopsy results to confirm the identity of a woman whose badly-burned body was
found in the remains of a mobile home consumed by fire Sunday morning. Investigators think they found the body of Sherry
Ann Everett Peacock, 40, was found in the remains of her mobile home in the 41,000 block of Brenda Lane, near Magnolia, early
Sunday morning, said Montgomery County Fire Marshal Dan Welsh. The body has not been positively identified. Welsh
said the cause of the 5:45 am fire and the victim's death is still under investigation. He said the fire did not appear
to have suspicious origins, but the amount of the destruction caused by the blaze will make determining its origins difficult,
he said. Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department Station Three Capt. Chuck Ringler said, "From reports we got it was totally
involved when we were called. When we got there the house was totally involved and the roof had fallen in. After we
extinguished the fire we found the body. Welsh said, "I got a call telling me they had a person missing at the house.
About an hour later they called me and told me they had a body out there." Hank Bardenhagen, the first fire investigator
on the scene, said paramedics on the scene were helpful in identifying the remains as a body. Welsh said Peacock, who was
a widow, lived in the mobile home with her only son, Tracy Tilotta, 23, who last saw her about midnight at her Brenda Lone
mobile home. She has not been seen since the blaze and information from nearby family members indicated Peacock was the
victim. "They were quite sure it was her. We'll have to wait for an autopsy to be sure," Welsh said.
