Highway Employe (sic) Dies at Home Here
J. S. Parker, 50, employe (sic) of the state highway department, died at 10:20 last night at the family home, 733 Cherry.
He had been bedridden three months, and his condition had been critical several days.
Born in Cleburne, Mr. Parker came to Abilene in 1900. He was in the army in the world war, having trained at Camp Travis.
His enlistment period was Sept. 6, 1918 to Jan. 10, 1919. He had been employed by the highway department eight years, as a
blackmith.
Survivors are his wife; four children, Mrs. L. L. Carlile, Lillie Marie and Ledon Parker and Joe Parker, Jr. all of Abilene;
two sisters, and seven brothers.
Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Locust Street church of Christ, with J. L. Musgrave, minister, officiating.
Burial is to be in Potosi cemetery, where three of his children also are buried. Arrangements are in charge of Elliott's Funeral
Home.
