Funeral services for William Jim Clayton, 73, of 707 Park were held Friday at the W. Y. Goff Chapel. He did Wednesday evening at the Medical and Surgical Center.

He was born May 6, 1905 in Delta County; the son of William Jasper Clayton and Mahala Fulfer Clayton. On April 10, 1925, he married Mary Estelle Cantrell in Delta County.

Clayton lived in and near Commerce most of his life.

Revs. N. D. Gilmore and Bill Daley of Greenville presided over the services, with burial held in Horton Cemetery.

Clayton is survived by his wife, Estelle, of Commerce; two daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Ruth Smith of Dallas, and Jimmie Lois Clayton of Commerce; three sons, Charles and James Ray Clayton, both of Commerce, and Lester Clayton of Garland; two sisters, Mrs. Birtie Fulfer of Commerce, and Mrs. Dollie Earwood of Hurst; one brother, Jack Clayton of Frogville, OK; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.

One daughter, Edna Elaine Bradford, preceded him in death in 1973.
