RUSSELL G. JOYNER HAMPTON - Louise F. Joyner, born July 10, 1920, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2004, and her husband, Russell G. Joyner, born March 7, 1918, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, both at Sentara Careplex. Louise was a native of Akron, Ohio. Russell was a native of Farmville, N.C. Both had been Peninsula residents for 63 years and were members of New Covenant Church. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer S. and Martha Ann Fulfer, and Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben T. and Lilly L. Joyner. Both are survived by their two sons, Gordon G. Joyner and wife, Barbara, of Newport News and Michael M. Joyner and wife, Pamela, of Yorktown; nine grandchildren, Russell Joyner and wife, Kristi, of Hampton, Michael Joyner and wife, Shawn, of Newport News, Mollie Carr and husband, Rick, of Newport News, Matthew Joyner and wife, Jamie, of Newport News, Jennifer Bernardi of Hampton, David Joyner of California, Mark Joyner of California, Stephanie Maynor and husband, Scott, of Seaford and Suzanne Strahorn of Yorktown; and 13 great-grandchildren. Louise is also survived by her sister, Mildred B. Fulfer of Harlingen, Texas; and brother, James G. Fulfer and wife, Olive, of Hendersonville, N.C. Russell is also survived by his brother, Dempsey C. Joyner and wife, Avenell of Hampton. A funeral service for Louise and Russell will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 17, at New Covenant Church, 1079 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
