Commerce-Funeral services for Bythia L. Abbott, 77, of White Settlement, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Jones Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Horton Cemetery.
Rev. James Osborne and Rev. Lyndon Petty will officiate.
Mrs. Abbott died Monday. The daughter of Daniel J. and Willie M. Clayton Smith, she was born Aug. 14, 1916 in Delta County. She was an active volunteer for the White Settlement Senior Citizen Center and member of Tower Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Glynn Abbott, Jackie Abbott and Jerry Abbott, all of White Settlement; two daughters, Pat Brothers of White Settlement and Brenda Midkiff of Millsap; two sisters, Fronia Roberts of and Sue Hodges, both of Longview(Gregg Co., TX); nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Abbott; and granddaughter, Edna Midcliff.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home.

Commerce-Funeral services for L. V. Abbott, 60, will be held here Thursday at 2 p.m. in the W. Y. Goff Chapel, with the Rev. N. D. Gilmore officiating. Burial will be in Horton Cemetery.
Abbott was born May 26, 1918, in Wade, Okla., the son of Robert L. Abbott and Mattie Patterson. He was married to Faye Moreland April 28, 1941, in Commerce.
Abbott was a veteren of World War II and a longtime employee of the Haltom City Funeral Hospital. He was a member of the Horton Baptist Church.
Abbott is survived by one brother, Vernon Abbott of Fort Worth; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Wilson of Commerce; one son, Don Abbott of Arlington; two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Ferguson of Gardendale, Calif., and Mrs. Shelia Moon of Fort Worth, and six grandchildren.
W. Y. Goff Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Hammie Adams Dies In Decatur Tuesday
James Hamilton "Hammie" Adams, 78, a life-long resident of the Arthur area, died at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Hospital at Decatur.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. today in the Arthur Methodist Church by the Rev. Kenneth Plummer. Mrs. Martha Albers will be organist and Mrs. H. L. Phillips will sing " The Old rugged Cross" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere."
Friends may call at the Fleming Funeral Home until noon today.
Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery. Pallbearer will be Klyde Combs, Fred White, Al Schlabach, Delbert Albers, June Wood, and Joe Hood, all members of the Arthur Fire Department.
Mrs. Adams became ill Saturday evening and was taken to St. Mary's Hospital Sunday after he was stricken again.
He was born April 28, 1878 in Jonathan Creek Township, the son of Edward and Margaret Lane Adams. On December 31, 1900 he was married to the former Elizabeth Stoler, who survives.
Mr. Adams was employed by Progress Manufacturing Company in the early years of that firm, later worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, retiring in 1927, and from 1932 until 1943 he was employed by the Arthur Village Board in the water department. He had been semi-retired since then.
He was a member of the Arthur Methodist Church, a charter member of the Arthur Fire Department and a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.
Besides his widow he is survived by his father, Edward Adams, 98, of Pierson Station; three daughters, Mrs. Floyd Vaughn of Arthur, and Mrs. Dave Garrett and Mrs. Clarence Stout, both of Tuscola; two sons, Ferd of Lansing, Mich, and James E. of Dyer, Ind.; one sister, Ms. A. F. Dawkins of Mahomet; one half-sister, Mrs. Lela Brownfield of Champaign; two half-brothers, Fred Fulfer of Salem and Roy Fulfer of Urbana, 19 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
A brother, Albert Adams, and a half-brother, Jesse Fulfer, proceeded him in death.

Mrs. Elizabeth Adams Services Conducted
Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Adams, 73, who died in St. Mary's Hospital at Decatur at 8:08 a.m. Sunday, were conducted at the Arthur Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon.
Mrs. Adams the widow of James "Hammie" Adams who died on September 11, 1956, had been in ill health for the past five years because of a heart aliment.
The Rev. Kenneth Plummer, pastor of the church conducted the services. Burial was in the Arthur Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harve Thomas, E. L. Upstone, Hans Oye, Rondel Cater, Klyde Combs, and Fred White. Fleming Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Adams was born in Arthur on January 5, 1884, the daughter of John and Margaret Stolter. She was a life-long resident of Arthur. She and Mr. Adams were married on December 31, 1900.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Lucille Vaughn of Arthur, Mrs. Vira Garrett of Tuscola and Mrs. Emily Stout of Tuscola.; two sons, Ferd of Lansing Mich. and James of Dyer, Ind; one sister, Mrs. Mary Kinney of Arthur; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, two brothers; John and David, and a sister, Lena, also preceded her in death.

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS - Jackie Yvonne Addington, 63, a minister's wife and retired risk management insurance administrator for Crescent Real Estate Equities Company, passed away Saturday, June 19, 1999, at home after a 22- month battle with lung cancer.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Metropolitan Baptist Church.
Officiating: Rev. Joe Addington, Rev. Larry Adkisson, Rev. Edgar Carlisle and Rev. Dwayne Phy. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park.

Jackie Addington was delivered into this world by her great- grandfather, Dr. J. P. Holton, Nov. 23, 1935, to Ralph and Leona Hogge, in Wichita Falls. She was married to Rev. Billy Joe Addington March 25, 1955, in Fort Worth. She received her Christian Education degree from Trinity Valley Baptist Seminary and Bible College. Rev. and Mrs. Addington's ministry together carried them to Baptist churches in Colorado and Texas. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was also a soloist and speaker to ladies groups, conferences and retreats. Her life was an inspiration to all who knew her because it exemplified the power of Christian faith in times of stress, suffering, sorrow and turmoil.
She had a creative, entertaining personality and enjoyed life. Her interests and talents were many and she used them to the honor and glory of God. To her family and friends, she was always there in times of need to offer help and encouragement, always ready to open her heart and go the extra mile. She left a legacy of devotion to God and family and will long be remembered for her ability to mentor others. She was a living example of Christian faith in action. If love and prayers could have kept her here, we would still be enjoying her lovely smile, intelligence, wit, charm and her special loving nature. She will be greatly missed, but her life did not end in this world because she will live on in the lives and hearts of those that knew her as long as we shall live. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph L. and Leona Hogge; and brother, Robert L. Hogge.

Services for Viva Pearl Allison, 94, of Lubbock will be at 1 p.m. Satuday in First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. John Donnerberg, pastor, officiating. The Rev. Pat Patterson, a retired minister, will assist.
Burial will be in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
She died Thursday, June 11, 1998, at a daughter's residence.
She was born July 6, 1903, in Eden. She married Alvis Allison on June 8, 1919, in Los Lunas, N.M. He died May 20, 1959. They moved to Lubbock from New Mexico in 1924. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
She and her husband helped establish the Nazarene church in Littlefield.
She was a homemaker. An infant son, Joe Dudley, and a son, J. R. Allison, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Tennie Gurturde "Gurty" Johnston and Oma Johnston, both of Lubbock; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Building Fund of First Church of the Nazarene.

Mrs. Welcome (Myrtle) Anderson, 70 Xenia, died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Clay County Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. at the John T. Frank Funeral Home with burial in Oskaloosa Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Thursday (tonight) at the funeral home.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Clay County to Ansil and Mary Fulfer. She was a member of the Meachum Baptist Church near Oskaloosa. She married Welcome Anderson, who preceded her in death earlier this year.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Margaret) Vincent and Mrs. Eddie (Virginia) Lamb, both of Xenia; three brothers, Kenneth Fulfer of Xenia, Delbert Fulfer

Bessie Evelyn Barclay, 98, of Perryton, died Thursday, April 29.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, May 1 from Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Roger, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Ochiltree Cemetery under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.
Born in Erath County on Aug. 21, 1894, she moved to Miami in 1909 and to Ochiltree County in 1913. She married Ray Barclay on Aug. 4, 1913 at Ochiltree. He preceded her in death in 1985.
Survivors include two daughters, Vinita McCurdy of Perryton and Ann Boyd of Beaver, OK; two sons, Roy Barclay and Ernest Barclay, both of Perryton; 22 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren and 32 great-great grandchildren.

R. B. "Bunk" Barclay, 72, of Perryton, died Aug 31, 1993.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, Sept. 2, at 11 a.m. at Ochiltree Cemetery, with Rev. Howard Stone, pastor of Gray Church, officiating. Arrangements are through Boxwell Brothers.
He was born Sept. 3, 1920 in Perryton, and was a lifetime resident. He married Velma Wilson on Dec. 10, 1945 in Perryton.
He was employed by Natural Gas Pipeline from 1948, until he retired in 1980.
He is survived by his wife, Velma, of the home; one son, Roy Barclay of Derrick City, PA; four daughters, Patricia Pauls of Adams, OK, Ramona Cook of Freeport, and Becky Uloth and Nita Brown, both of Perryton; two sisters, Venita McCurdy of Perryton and Ann Boyd of Beaver, OK; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Ray Barclay, Perryton pioneer, dies at age 91
Ray Milford Barclay, aged 91, and one of the county's oldest longtime residents, died Sunday at Senior Village.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Full Gospel Church. Rev. Zane Bartel of Lubbock and Troy Barclay officiated. Burial was in Ochiltree Cemetery, under the direction of Boxwell Brothers.
Mr. Barclay was born on October 13, 1893 in Pratt, Kans., the son of John and Winnie Ola Collier Barclay. He grew up in Carmon, Okla., and moved near old Ochiltree with his family after the death of his mother.
He married Bessie Evelyn Fulfer on August 14, 1913 in a buggy by Judge Hanna, in front of the judge's house. The newlyweds lived in a dugout and later moved to old Ochiltree.
There were only three houses standing in the new town of Perryton when the Barclay family moved here. They built two-room dugout on S. Drake and in 1924 bought a house at 405 E. Center He had lived in that same home for some 60 years, until moving with his wife to the Senior Village in November 1984.
For six decades he worked as an auto mechanic and served on the Perryton volunteer fire department from 1926-1971.
Surviving are his wife, Bessie; two daughters, Vinita McCurdy of Perryton and Anna Boyd, of Beaver, Okla.; two sons, Roy B (Bunk) Barclay and Ernest Davis Barclay, both of Perryton; 22 grandchildren and 58 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Wolfe City-Charles Wilbur Beach, 92, of Wolfe City died Friday at Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce after a lengthy illness. Services are at R. W. Owens Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Dwight Gardner officiating. Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
He was born July 21, 1905 in Wolfe city; the son of J. C. and Pearl beach. He married Era Mae Marical Smith in Dallas on Dec. 31, 1965. Mr. Beach was a farmer and he was a member of Honey Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a stepson, James Dewey Smith of Dallas; two stepdaughters, Sandra Gardner of Wolfe City and Margaret Stewart of Dallas; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

WOLFE CITY - Era Mae Beach, 85, of Wolfe City, died Saturday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Services are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Owens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lewis Smith officiating. Burial will be in Carmel Cemetery.
Mrs. Beach was born April 18, 1914 in Wolfe City to John and Mary Catherine Miller Marical. She married Claud Smith who preceded her in death in 1953. She later married C.W. Beach who preceded her in death in 1997.
She is survived by a son, James Dewey Smith of Dallas; two daughters, Sandra Gardner of Wolfe City and Margaret Stewart of Dallas; a brother, John Marical of Wolfe City; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Berman, manager of Parker Laundry on Corpus Christi Beach, moved here 25 years ago from New York.
He was Army veteran of World Wars I and II and was a member of Bnai Israel Synagogue and was a past Master Lodge of Talco.
Berman was a Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Azlafar Temple Shrine of San Antonio.
He is survived by his wife Bessie; four daughters, Mrs. Ethel Lockett of Longview, Mrs. Corrine McKinney of Warren, Ark., Mrs. Mildred Hodges of Jacksboro, and Mrs. Vivian Danielson of Springvalley, Wis.; a brother, Harry Berman of New York City; 15 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

1946.

The Rev. Charles Payne and the Rev. Wallace Tribble will officiate. Burial will be in Ward Branch Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Scott Arledge, Justin Bingham, Martin Bingham, Rusty Bingham, Jon Hawkins and Dallas Teeters.
Mrs. Bingham died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, in Fort Worth.
She was born Feb. 11, 1911, in Glen Rose, the daughter of Thomas I. and Mary Ellen Cheek Fulfer. She married Loy Bingham in Glen Rose July 15, 1927.
Mrs. Bingham was a homemaker. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include one son, Thelton Bingham of Cleburne; one daughter, Ida Lewis of Fort Worth; six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral: 1 p.m. Thursday at Biggers Funeral Home. Burial: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Officiating will be her son-in-law, Rev. Joe Addington; her pastor, Dr. Jerry D. Locke, and her friend, Rev. Larry Adkisson.
Leona Hogge Bivens was born April 14, 1908, near Wichita Falls.
She lived in the Fort Worth area more than 58 years and was a member of Lake Worth Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ralph L. Hogge, her parents, Ida and Albert Matthews, one brother and two sisters.
She loved the Lord and was a church pianist/organist more than 70 years. At the age of 17, she came to Fort Worth to enroll at Southwestern Baptist Seminary to pursue her love of music. She was devoted to her family, loved to read, travel, had a delightful sense of humor and was a tremendous encourager to those around her.
Pallbearers: Grandsons, Randy and Ricky Addington, Terry and Doug Wharton, and great-grandsons, Joshua and Matthew Addington.

Services for Henry George Boevers, 73, of Piedmont were held Jan. 12 at the Yanda Funeral Home Chapel in Yukon. Burial was in the Union City Cemetery.
Boevers was born Nov. 20, 1914, in Union City and died Jan. 9 at his Piedmont home.
He was a retired bus driver with the Greyhound Bus Line and a member of the senior citizens group.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Lorene, of the home; one son, Henry P. and wife, Phyllis of Piedmont; three sisters, Anna Biswell of Wagoner, Francis Tillman of Tulsa and Hieda Ogle of Choctaw; one brother, Eugene of Sallisaw; a nephew, Mike Boevers of Oklahoma City and a number of other nieces and nephews.
Boevers was a much-loved member of the Piedmont School System and was known as Mr. Cottonpicker.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to the Heart Foundation.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard of Oklahoma City.

Born February 27, 1885, in Hill County, Boggus was a retired farmer and had lived in Stephenville 28 years. He married Fannie Davis on December 2, 1907.

RANGER - Ruth Lucille Booth of Ranger, a former employee of J.C. Penney Co. in Ranger, died Friday at a De Leon hospital. She was 89.
Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home in Ranger. Burial will be in Exray Cemetery in Erath County.
Mrs. Booth was born in Exray, where she graduated from high school. She worked for J.C. Penney Co. for 25 years before the Ranger store closed. She was married to Odell Booth, who died in 1972.

The daughter of Thomas Hubbard Tarrant and Mary Susie Bryant, she was born July 19, 1918, in Campbell. She was married to Larnce Wilburn Brand. Mrs. Brand was a retired grocery clerk.
Surviving are two daughters, Ava Ryan and JoAnn Honeycutt; a son, Thomas W. Brand; three grandchildren, Angie Rodriquez, Cameron Brand and Adam Brand and one great-grandchild, Ashley Ball.
Her husband preceded her in death on June 7, 1984.

Ruben Brawley, 74, died Wednesday, April 8, 1998 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 11, at 2 p.m. at United Lutheran Church in Gatzke with Pastor Arlen R. Lloyd officiating. Gloria Sistad was the organist, and a duet was sung by Muriel Larson and Mary Ann Lunsetter. Casketbearers were Dale Rogers, Wally Chaplinski, Eric Roepke, Robert Engelstad, Ronald Engelstad and Richard Engelstad. Honorary casketbearers were Gene Peterson, Cheslie Ruud and Walter Lunsetter. Burial was in Lanstad Cemetery in Rollis township of Marshall County. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Ruben Levania Brawley was born on May 2, 1923 in Winona, MO, the son of Odes and Oma (Weaver) Brawley. He was baptized in the Christian faith. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Holliday, Tx were he attended school and worked in the oil fields.
Ruben was united in marriage to Angie Fulfer on July 18, 1943 in Walters, OK. The couple lived in Wichita Falls, TX and Petrolia, Tx where Ruben continued to work in the oil fields. In 1968, they purchased a farm in Rollis township of Marshall county. Ruben and Angie took up permanent residence there in 1972. Ruben farmed and was a diesel mechanic for McDonough Construction in Grygla.
He thoroughly enjoyed ranching and working on equipment for his neighbors and friends, activities he continued into his retirement years. He also enjoyed his cattle, talking ploitics and spending time with family and friends.
Ruben is survived by his wife, Angie of Garzke; four children, Evelyn (Dale) Rogers of Gatzke, Nancy (Ray) Holhenstein of Valley View, TX, Glenda (Wally) Chaplinski of Middle River, and Rex "Butch" (Anne) Brawley of Burlington, ND; ten grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Brawley of Brownwood, TX and George (Juanita) Brawley of Mena, AR; three sisters, Eulah Collier of Valley View, TX, Erma Harris of Gatzke and Martha Graf of Fosston; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Henry "Bo" Brawley; his parents; and one sister, Jenny Dearman.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday for John E. Brazell, 72, 914 41st St., who died at his home early Saturday morning.
Brazell was a retired barber and a native of Mills County, Tex. He moved to Sacramento, Calif., about 20 years ago, and returned to Lubbock in July, 1965.
Services will be in the Henderson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jarrell Thorpe, pastor of Overton Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Inglewood Cemetery, Slaton, directed by Henderson Funeral Directors.

City of Shawnee employee Velorin "Chub" Brimm, Shawnee, died Wednesday in an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 66.
Brimm was born June 1, 1931, in Prague, to Joseph F, and Opal Emily (Gunter) Brimm. He served in the U.S. Army and moved to Shawnee in 1958.
He married Mary Lewis on Nov, 29, 1977, in Shawnee, and was a member of the American Legion and the 40 and 8. Brimm was employed by the City of Shawnee for 26 years in the water department as a supervisor.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of the home; tow sons and daughters-in-law; Edwin Lee and April Brimm and Billy Joe and Vickie Brimm, all of Shawnee; a daughter and son-in-law, Connie Elizabeth and Tom Childress of Galey, Okla.; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Marcella and Buddy Nichols of Ola, Ark., Dean and Charlie Johnson of Bryan Cove, Ark., Sue and Ike Rogers of Dardnelle, Ark., Janet Garner of Ola, Ark.; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Eldon and Sue Brimm of Ola, Ark., Annie Brimm of Gore; seven grandchildren and several other relatives.
Brimm was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Venus Brimm.

Mr. Burd died Wednesday, Dec. 6 at his home in Cedar Hill.
He was born Sept. 9, 1964 in Cameron and was a sales clerk at an auto parts store in Dallas. Mr. Burd graduated from Rockdale High School in 1982, where he played football, and later attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos.

Mrs. Bussell died Monday at Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce at the age of 80.
Born in Winnsboro on Jan. 25. 1915, he was the son of William Frank and Alice Gertrude Coker Bussell. He married Sally Pauline Fulfer on Sept. 14, 1940. Mr. Bussell moved from Celeste to Commerce 32 years ago. He was a cotton ginner and farmer, retiring in 1985. He was a deacon and member of the Men's Sunday school class of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife; five daughters, Delores Willaby of Balch Springs, Sally Jackson of Witts Point, Kathy Cripe of Walkerton, Ind. Linda Hudson and Paula Bussell of commerce; two sons, Robert Bussell of Dallas and Mark Bussell of Commerce; brother, Billie Allen of Yantis; two sisters, Marie Franks of Arlington and Dorothy Linder of Roswell, N.M.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Calloway died Friday in Colonial Nursing Home in Lubbock following an illness.  She was a native of Scurry County.

She lived in Lockney and Matador before moving to Lorenzo about 10 years ago.  She was a baker.

Survivors include a son, Charles Vernon of Lorenzo; a sister, Mrs. Henry Elmore of Spur; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

ELLEN `TOODLE' CARAWAY
Ellen ``Toodle'' Caraway, 68, of San Angelo joyfully met her angels that had been watching over her, Saturday, Dec, 19, 1998. God set her free from the earthly chains of a lengthy illness that had bound her. Present to encourage her through this spiritual transformation were her husband, loving children and grandchildren, and a very special dog, Bugsy, who never left her side. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, in Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with the Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Toodle was born Aug. 21, 1930, in Stephenville. Toodle became the devoted wife of H.A. Caraway Jr. on April 21, 1952. An extraordinary person, Mom and ``Guinnea,'' as she was know to her grandchildren, was adored by all. Cherishing family above all, she was the epitome of unconditional love. A lover of life, she taught so many valuable lessons that will be carried on through generations. Play with the kids and forget the housework; it will always be there. Eat dessert first, chocolate is a food group, and play Putt-Putt before homework. Lastly, you're never too young to ride a bike. Demonstrating remarkable talent, Toodle was an accomplished painter, writer and poet. Toodle's adventurous spirit led her down many paths. She flew with Continental Airlines as a stewardess, worked as a nurse, and designed and made clothing. She became a police dispatcher and performed accounting duties for businesses in later years. A Christian and Church of Christ,{per family} Toodle read her Bible daily and sought wisdom and humility. A lifetime learner, she absorbed information and coveted knowledge; however, the validity of some of her Scrabble words remains questionable. She loved to laugh. Full of jokes and pranks, her witty, enthusiastic approach to everything made her a joyous person and kept everyone laughing. Due to the contagious spirit of Toodle, there is a little bit of her in all of us. Mom, your little light still shines. She is survived by her husband, H.A. Caraway Jr. of San Angelo; a daughter, Laura Powell and husband, Dyron, of Houston; two sons, Trey Caraway and wife, Polly, of San Angelo and Andy Caraway and wife, Cindi, of Merkel; grandchildren, Dyron Powell Jr. and fiancee, Sharla Kleypas, Treyci Eyster and husband, Joe, Treyla Caraway, Christopher Caraway, Bailey Browder, Kate Caraway and Drew Caraway; a sister, Phine Brownd and husband, Gene; a sister-in-law, Dale Fulfer; numerous nieces and nephews; and ever-watchful Bugsy. C. E. Carpenter, fire alarm operator for the Paris Fire Department more than 12 years, died Saturday at 11:30 a. m. at St. Joseph's Hospital. He had been suffering from a heart ailment and was in the hospital four or five weeks.

Funeral service, Monday at 2 p.m. will be held in Fry-Gibbs Chapel by Paul Epps of West Paris Church of Christ and the Rev. James Riley of First Baptist church.  Members of the fire department will be pallbearers, and burial will be made in Hickory Grove Cemetery, south of Petty.

Mr. Carpenter was born in Lamar County, Dec. 26, 1896, son of Edgar E. and Fannie Carpenter.  He attended Grayland and Ben Franklin rural schools and later a business college.  A farmer, he had lived at Clarksville before coming to Paris.  He had been with the fire department here since July 1, 1943, and was a member of the Church of Christ.  

Besides his wife, the former Miss Gladys Kirkham, he leaves one son, Edward B. Carpenter,  Houston, and a half-brother, James Fulfer, Roxton.

Gladys M. Carpenter, 92, of Paris, died Tuesday, Sep. 10, 1996, at Paris Nursing Home. Graveside rites will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sep. 12, in the Hickory Grove Cemetery near Petty. Officiating will be the Rev. James O'Dell. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. Mrs. Carpenter was born Oct. 27, 1903, in Roxton, a daughter of George A. and Sara Moore Kirkham. She attended public schools in the Gose Community of Lamar County and was a member of the Bonham Street Church of Christ. In addition to her work as a homemaker, she was the nursery attendant at First United Methodist Church more than 30 years. She married C. E. Carpenter Dec. 23, 1925. He preceded her in death in 1955. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Helen C. Carpenter of Garland; two grandsons, Michael Edward Carpenter of Garland and John Stephen Carpenter and wife Diane of Garland: a half-sister, Thurlow Whitcomb of California and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Edward Carpenter in 1995.' *Grave location has not been verified and is assumed to be next to spouse.

Edna Ann Carter, 59 of Celeste died Thursday morning at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.  Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Kingston United Methodist Church with Rev. Ricky Huggins and Rev. Marsha Engle officiating. Burial will be in Money Cemetery.

She was born Sept. 30, 1940 in Dallas to William B. Fulfer and Marie M. Wade Fulfer.  On Aug. 24, 1957 she married James L. Carter in Durant, Okla. Mrs. Carter was a homemaker and a member of Kingston United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband of Celeste;  sons Russell Carter, Kenneth Carter and Curtis Carter, all of Celeste and Raymond Carter of Carrolton; a daughter, Lisa Horton of Bonham;  Sister Veta Fae Leach of Granbury;  10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Berta Mae Stanglin and a brother, William Wade Fulfer.

Pallbearers will be Danny Lipsey, Weldon Sheets, Michael Sheets, Wade Sheets, Orville Gentry and Terry Carter.

 Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home, of Greenville.

KNOX CITY (RNS) - Funeral for Andrew Jackson Carver, 81, will be held in Knox City Baptist Church Saturday at 4 p.m. with burial in Knox City Cemetery directed by Smith Funeral Home. The service was changed from 10 a.m. Saturday. Officiating will be the Rev. K. E. Wooley of Benjamin. Mr. Carver died Friday afternoon in Knox County Hospital. He was visiting a daughter in Benjamin when he became ill. A former Knox County resident, the retired farmer moved to Big Spring in 1949.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Gladys Bryant of Ira, Mrs. Mable Logsdon of Reno, Nev., Mrs. Zula Conner and Mrs. Issie Holiday of Rockdale; two brothers, Dan of Gause and George of Rockdale; and 16 grandchildren.

Carver, 85, died at 3:10 p.m. in Austin hospital after an illness of several months and funeral services were held at 11a.m. Friday at the Phillips and Luckey Chapel in Rockdale with burial in the I00F Cemetery.  The officiating minester was the Rev. Allison Joyce, pastor of the first Baptist Church.  Mr. Carver was a resident of the Sand Grove Community in the Milam County and was born on March 29, 1881, in the Milam County.  He worked in the coal mines for many years.  He was a member of the Baptist Church of Gause.  His wife, who proceeded him in death, was the former Miss Lula Driggers.  Surviving are four sons, Harvey Carver of Rockdale, James, Leroy, and Earl Carver all of Houston, two daughters, Mrs.  Johnnie Everett and Mrs. Stella Ramsey, both of Houston, two brothers, Andrew Carver of Abilene and Dan Carver of Gause.

Funeral services for Harvey Carver, 85, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 29, in the Phillips and Luckey Chapel with burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Rev. Charles Cox of First Christian Church officiated.

Mr. Carver died Saturday afternoon, June 27, in Richards Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health since January. He was a lifelong resident of Rockdale. He was born Nov. 8, 1906, in Rockdale to Mr. and Mrs. George (Lula Driggers) Carver. He was an auto mechanic, retiring from Gaither Motor Co. on August, 1971.

Mr. Carver and Willard (Clymore) Davenport were married Dec. 16, 1952, at the First Christian Church parsonage in Rockdale.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and a step-son.
Survivors include his wife, Willard Carver of Rockdale; two step-sons, Charles Eugene Davenport of Katy and Larry Wayne Davenport of Salinas, California; a step-daughter, Wilma Jean Fritz of Montgomery; a brother, James Carver of Abilene; a sister, Stella Hutto of Houston; also, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Graham Young, Babe Baker, Gary Walker, Clifford Bartlett, Gene Kornegay and Guy Pruett.

Honorary pallbearers were Veterans of Foreign Wars members Marvin Hall, D. C. Knott, Edell Kirchenwitz, J. D. Caffey, James E. Luckey, Barnie Henderson, Clarence T. Krenek, Otha R. Lumpkins and Monroe Mortimer.

Mr. Carver was a member of First Christian Church, Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II, receiving the Purple Heart for action in the European Theatre of Operations.

Abilene Woman's Funeral Today

Funeral for Mrs. A. J. Carver, 65, who died at her home here early Wednesday will be held at 10 a.m. today in Kiker-Warren chapel. Burial will be in the Knox City cemetery.

Mrs. Carver had been ill four months, her condition becoming critical Tuesday night. She was born Aug, 23, 1880, at Bonham, and was married to Mr. Carver at Rockdale in 1905. She lived there until 1924, when she and her husband moved to Henrietta and then to Abilene.

Survivors are her husband: one son, W. J. Carver of Abilene; and four daughters, Mrs. Cecil Connor of  Benjamin, Mrs. Mabel Heath of Fresno, Calif., Mrs. Gladys Goodman of San Angelo, and Mrs. Izzie Holliday of Rockdale.

    On Monday, August 7th, the Death Angel visited into the home of Bill Teague and claimed as it's victim  his mother, Mrs. Catherine Clayton.  She was loved by all who knew her and numbered her friends by her acquaintances and always met them with a smile and was known to her friends as "Aunt Ketty".
    She was a sweet and loving mother and =friend.  We can't  understand why God took this sweet soul away but he knows best.
    She was born July 28th, 1856 in the Black Cat Thicket, ten miles west of Commerce and was a member of the First Christian Church at South Sulphur, having joined when a girl, in 1877.  She was married to Jim Teague and six children were born to this union.  Then later she was married to J--- Clayton who proceeded her in death some fourteen years ago, and after his death she has made her home with her son at Horton.
    Aunt Ketty is survived by her son, Bill Teague, one brother, John Fulfer of South Sulphur, a twin sister, Margurett Miller of Black Cat Thicket and a grandson, Melvin Teague of Horton and a number of relatives and friends to mourn her departure.  She was laid to rest in the South Sulphur Cemetery beneath a mound of flowers.

Funeral services for Mrs. W. J. Clayton, 82, pioneer of the Horton community, were held Friday afternoon at Horton Baptist Church with Rev. N. D. Gillmore officiating.

Mrs. Clayton had lived in and around Horton all of her life.  She died Thursday at her home there.

She is survived by seven children, four daughters and three sons. Her husband preceded her in death.

Funeral for Mary Estelle Clayton, 76, of 1309 Park was held Friday from the W. Y. Goff Chapel with burial at Horton Cemetery.   The Rev. Melvin Samples officiated.

Born Oct 3, 1905 at Lillie, La., she died Wednesday at her home.  She was the daughter of Terry H. Cantrell and Virginia Farrell Cantrell.

Mrs. Clayton married William Jimmy Clayton in Delta County on April 10, 1925.  He died Nov. 8, 1978. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Jimmie Lois Clayton, with whom she made her home, and Bonnie Ruth Smith of Dallas;  three sons, Charles Clayton and James Ray Clayton, both of Commerce, and Lester Clayton of Garland; a brother, Willie Cantrell of Jena, La.; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for William Jim Clayton, 73, of 707 Park were held Friday at the W. Y. Goff Chapel. He did Wednesday evening at the Medical and Surgical Center.

He was born May 6, 1905 in Delta County; the son of  William Jasper Clayton and Mahala Fulfer Clayton. On April 10, 1925, he married Mary Estelle Cantrell in Delta County.

Clayton lived in and near Commerce most of his life.

Revs. N. D. Gilmore and Bill Daley of Greenville presided over the services, with burial held in Horton Cemetery.

Clayton is survived by his wife, Estelle, of Commerce; two daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Ruth Smith of Dallas, and Jimmie Lois Clayton of Commerce; three sons, Charles and James Ray Clayton, both of Commerce, and Lester Clayton of Garland; two sisters, Mrs. Birtie Fulfer of Commerce, and Mrs. Dollie Earwood of Hurst; one brother, Jack Clayton of Frogville, OK; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.

One daughter, Edna Elaine Bradford, preceded him in death in 1973.

Benjamin Cochran-Services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Peers Funeral Service for Benjamin F. Cochran, 84, 415 S. C St.  He died Wednesday in a Tulare hospital.

Cochran was a native of Paris, Texas and had lived in Tulare for the past 37 years.  He was a retired warehouseman for a packing company. He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God, the Modern Woodsmen of America and belong to the Teamsters Union.

He is survived by two sons, John Cochran and Ben G. Cochran, both of Tulare; a daughter Billie Ruminer, Tulare; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard Cochran, Hotenville, Okla., and two sisters, Sue Patton, Lakeport, and Helen Chapman, Mangum, Okla.

Burial will be in Tulare Cemetery, next to his wife Inez Cochran, who died May 27, 1973.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Bethel Assembly of God Church for John Raymond "Tex" Cochran, 76, Tulare, who died Tuesday in a Visalia hospital.

Mr. Cochran was born in Erick, Okla., and lived in Tulare for 51 years. He married Georgia Cochran in 1934 in Morton, Texas. He was a truck driver for 20 years for Kings County Truck Lines before retiring. He was a member of Bethel Assembly and Teamster Union Local No. 94. He enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, and watching sports.

In addition to his wife in Tulare, he is survived by one daughter, Theda McDonald, Visalia, one brother, Ben Cochran, Tulare; one sister, Billie Ruminer, Tulare; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be until 8 tonight at  Hamilton Peers-Lorentzen Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Tulare Cemetery.

Services were held Friday, June 21 from the Kerr Mortuary with the Rev. Bill DeCroix officiating for Albert Coffey, 60, who died June 19th at the Modoc Medical Center following a long illness.  Coffey had been hospitalized a short time before his death.

The deceased had been a resident of Alturas since 1947. Prior to that he had lived in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. He was born in 1906 in Rolf, Okla.. Coffey was an employee of the Canby mill until his retirement.  

He is survived by his wife, Leons, two children, Jerry Dean Coffey of Alturas and Erma Dean Rogers of Reno, three brothers, Shadrick Dollarhide, Burbank, Rance Dollarhide, Stockton, Grady Dollarhide, Lamont, Calif., a sister, Doris McClure of Dinuba, Calif.,  and his mother Liddie Dollarhide of Bakerfield.

Ada- Graveside services for Cleo COFFEY Sr., 87, Ada, are 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Lightning Ridge Cemetery, the Rev. Joe Dixon officiating.
Mr. Coffey died May 7, 1995, at his home. He was born Jan. 12, 1908, at Lightning Ridge to Henry Gilbert and Etter Matilda FULFER COFFEY. He came back to the Ada area in 1988 from Dalhart, Texas. He attended grade school at Lightning Ridge. He was formerly employed by Phillips Petroleum and as a motel manager.
On Jan. 29, 1926, he and Gladys NORDEAN were married in Roff. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Nordean Coffey, of the home; a son, Cleo Coffey, Jr., Dallas, Texas; a brother, Arden L. Coffey, Ada; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services for former car dealership owner Dock H. Coffey,83, of 4219 W. Third, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Winfred Moore,pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors.

Mr. Coffey died Friday.

Mr. Coffey, born in Roff,Okla., was former owner of Dock Coffey Pontiac and Doc Coffey Auto Sales. He moved to Amarillo in 1942 from Pampa.

He retired from the car dealership business in 1980 after 38 1/2 years.

Mr. Coffey was a member of the Amarillo Kiwanis Club, where he had more than 40 years of perfect attendance. He was also a member of Auto Dealers Association, Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau and Amarillo Credit Association. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church.

He married Euna May Hudson in 1920 at Roff.

He was proceeded in death by a daughter, Margie Bratton in 1982.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter Francis Dement of Amarillo; four brothers, Cleo of Dalhart, Arden and Woodrow both of Ada, Okla; and Ike of Amarillo; and a sister, May Belle McKell of Midland.

The family requests memorials be to First Baptist Church Family Life Center.

  Graveside services for Ona E. Coffee, 82, of Muleshoe, formerly of Amarillo, were conducted at 3 P.M. Friday, March 22, in the Fairview Cemetery in Pampa with the Rev. Terry Bratton of Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Worth, officiating.
  Burial was under the direction of Schooler-Gordon Bell Avenue Chapel.  Mrs. Coffey died Monday.
  The former Ona E. Hudson was born in Roff, Okla. and had been a resident in Amarillo for 15 years and a longtime resident of Pampa, before coming to Muleshoe. Her husband, Ike Coffey, died in 1988.
  Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Gist of Muleshoe, Johnnie Gilbreath of Arlington;  a sister, Dovie Fergason of Ada, Okla.; a brother, Joel Hudson, of Roff; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Paul Courson, 84, of rural Kinmundy passed away at 4:45 pm on Thursday,
May 6 1993, at the Clay County Hospital, Flora.
Mr Courson was born on April 19, 1909, in Marion County, the son of Noah
T. and Laura (Slagley) Courson.
He married Zettie Fulfer in January, 1928.  She preceeded him in death
on December 2, 1978.
    He was a farmer and a member of Meachum Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Paul Jr. of Dieterich; one daughter, Louise
Headlee of Louisville; 11 grandchildren
and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by his wife; one daughter; three brothers; two
sisters and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at the Neal Funeral Home, Louisville,

MINERAL WELLS - Homer Granada Cozby, a retired postal service worker, died Thursday at his home in Mineral Wells. He was 74.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Baum-Carlock-Baumgarder Funeral Home. Burial will be in Carlton Cemetery, west of Hico. Graveside military rites will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Cozby was born in Fields, N.M.
He was an Army Air Forces veteran and served with the 25th Fighter Squadron in the China, Burma, India Theater. He was a member of the Flying Tigers Association and the American Association of Retired Persons. He was a former member of the Civilian Conservation Corps and a lifetime member of the Stephenville Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Cozby graduated from Carlton High School in 1939 and wrote a history of Carlton.
Survivors: Wife, Christine Cozby of Mineral Wells; son, James Wright of Seguin; two daughters, Jessie Teddlie of Hurst and Levenia Lucatorta of Bowie; two sisters, Irene Koonsman of Stephenville and Grace Hill of Encatais, Calif.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Troy Crain Held Tuesday

Funeral Services for Troy E. Crain, 77, of Cisco, were at 2 p.m.  Tuesday at the I-20 Church of Christ, directed by Cisco Funeral Home.  Burial was in the Exray Cemetery near Stephenville.

Mr. Crain died at 3:20 p.m. Sunday at Eastland Memorial Hospital.

He was born December 5, 1902, in Erath County.  He was a carpenter.  He retired in 1974, when he moved to Cisco from Abilene. He was a member of the I-20 Church of Christ.  He married Sue Jones on October 18, 1924, in Seymour.  They lived in and around Seymour before moving to Cisco five years ago.

   Clara B. Matthews Crumpler went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Dec. 12, 2001. She was 88 years old. Services Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at 10 a.m. at Owens & Brumley Chapel, Wichita Falls. Private burial at the Crumpler Family Cemetery. Rev. Ronnie Lawson, pastor of Thornberry Baptist Church, officiating.
   Clara was born March 5, 1913, in Thornberry, Texas, and lived in that area all of her life. She was a member of the Thornberry Baptist Church and was retired from Bethania Hospital nursing staff in 1977. She married John William (Jack) Crumpler on Aug. 18, 1932. Her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1998. She is survived by her three children: Paul and Barbara Crumpler, Bill and Vel Crumpler and Judy and Ed Beach, all of Wichita Falls. She had eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Loretta Kiser of Kerrville, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.
   The family visitation will be Friday night between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
   The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Rd., Wichita Falls, TX.

J. W. "Jack" Crumpler, 88, died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, in his Wichita Falls home.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Crumpler cemetery with the Rev. Ronnie Lawson, pastor Thornberry Baptist Church, officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.

Mr. Crumpler was born July 8, 1909, in Vernon, Texas. He was a 1928 graduate of Wichita Falls High School.  He and Clara Bessie Matthews were married Aug. 18, 1932.  He was a retired machinist, and worked for Panhandle Steel, Burt Tank Co.,  and Montgomery Crumpler Farms.  He was a member of Thornberry Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Judy Crumpler Beach of Wichita Falls; tow sons, Bill and Paul, both of Wichita Falls; a brother, Gordon of Wichita Falls; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Dale F. Danielson, 71, of Spring Valley, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, March 15, 1994 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.


Dale was born May 14, 1922, to Victor and Olga Danielson in St. Croix County. He lived all his life in Spring Valley, except while serving with the United States Army in the 32nd Division in the South Pacific during World War II.


June 5, 1945 he married Vivian Berman at Breckenridge, Texas. Three children were born to this union, Gary, Shelley and Lisa.


He worked for Madson Lumber Company in Spring Valley for many years. Dale owned and operated Oak-Dale Hardwood Products in Spring Valley for twenty seven years.


Survivors include his wife, Vivian of Spring Valley; two daughters, Shelley ( Dean ) Aamodt of Menomonie, Wisconsin and Lisa ( Steve ) Schneider of Black River Falls, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Sally and Jake Schneider and Eric and Siri Aamodt.


He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary; two brothers, James and Earl.


Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Spring Valley with the Reverend Keith Holste officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery

  Gary Victor Danielson

A tragic car accident took the life of Gary Danielson, 16, of Spring Valley Wisconsin last week, Wednesday night. He was accompanied by Jack Hannack, Dennis Kado, Severe and Peter Docter and Craig Nelson, none of whom were hurt.


Gary was driving the car when it reportedly went out of control on a curve on CTH N, seven miles northeast of Ellsworth as they were returning home from a church softball tournament in which they had participated.


The car left the road, glanced off a tree and rolled over, coming to rest on its top. The boys in the front seat reportedly had their seat belts on and fastened.


Gary's death was attributed to severe head injuries.


Gary Victor Danielson was born to Dale and Vivian ( Berman ) Danielson, December 21, 1950 at Mineral Wells, Texas. At the age of one month, he came with his parents to Spring Valley Wisconsin, where he lived the rest of his life.


His church membership was at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Spring Valley, where he was baptized by the Reverend Carsten Smeby and confirmed by the Reverend David J. Campbell.


He would have been a junior in Spring Valley High School this fall. He had worked at Crystal Cave as a guide for the past three years.


Gary's death came suddenly Wednesday evening, August 2, 1967, when the car he was driving swerved and overturned in El Paso township.


Preceding him in death were his grandfathers, Victor Danielson and Dave Berman.


Surviving him are; his parents; two sisters, Shelley and Lisa both at home; his grandmothers, Mrs. Olga Stene, Forest, Wisconsin, and Mrs. O.O. McCray, Graford, Texas; several aunts, uncles, cousins and other more distant relatives and friends.


Funeral services were conducted Saturday, August 5, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Spring Valley with the Reverend Ronald Leslie officiating in absence of Reverend John Friedli. Interment was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.


Pallbearers were; Dennis Kado, Jack Hannack, Gary Korbel, Charles Arneson, Roger Olson and Douglas Lamb. Honorary pallbearers were; Craig Nelson, John Wenum, Peter Docter, Severe Docter, Rodney Vorlicek, Donald Fast, Bill Richardson and Greg Kado

Mrs. Flora Davis Dies Here Friday


Mrs. Flora Isabell Davis, 82, died Friday in the Stephenville Hospital after a short illness. Mrs. Davis was born June 29, 1882. She was married to Ervin Alfred Davis in 1901 and they were the parents of five children, four of whom survive.


Funeral was held Sunday.


Mrs. Davis, a member of the Church of Christ is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Gussie Hilburn of Stephenville and Mrs. Fay Bruce of Odessa; two sons, Boyd Davis of Mineral Wells and Henry Davis of Lubbock, also three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ona Lee Davis, 83, died Thursday in the West Park Long Term Care Center.


Mrs. Davis was born June 5, 1903 in Palo Pinto Co., Texas to William R. Clepper and the former Zora Hamilton. She married John R. Davis in 1923 in Caddo, Texas.  Mr. Davis died in 1972 in Texas.


Mrs. Davis retired as a nurse after working many years at the Dallas Medical and Surgical Hospital, moving to Cody in 1973.


Survivors include two children, Margaret Holliday of Cody, and Richard Davis of Plano, TX;  one brother, Alfred of Anaheim, Calif., one sister, Mary Boatright of Lovington, N.M.;  five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.


Services were Monday at the Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Freeman McCall officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Roy Holliday, Sr., Jeff Boatright, Roy Holliday, Jr., Richard Holliday, Randy Holliday, and Gary Holliday.

Willliam M. Davis, 87, long time resident of Erath county  died Sunday, October 20, at his home in the Exray community, where he had lived for more than 40 years.


Funeral services, attended by large number of friends and relatives, wee held at the Exray church Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev, S. G. Stewart, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Stephenville, led the rites.


Trewitt Funeral Home directed al arrangements. Pallbearers  were his grandsons.  His granddaughters and a great granddaughter served as flower girls.

Bertha Lavada Dearman, 52 years old, died Jan. 10, 1974 at Crescent City, Calif.  She was a native of Bennington, Okla., born Sept 25, 1921.

Mrs. Dearman was the Stanley Home Products Dealer in the local area for the past few years.  She resided at Rt. 1 Box 252, Crescent City, Calif. and had been a resident of the area for 18 years.

Hester Lucille Dorris CLOVIS, N.M. - Hester Lucille Dorris, 82, died Saturday, July 4, 1998. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Dorris was born in Roosevelt County.
She was a member of the BPO Elks of Clovis. Her husband, Emmett Dorris, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a brother, Millard "Jack" Engram of Sudan, Texas; four stepsons, Curtis Dorris of Crested Butte, Colo., Cone Dorris of Yuma, Ariz., Jack Dorris of Wanette, Okla., and Jay Dorris of Phoenix; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the New Mexico Boys Ranch.

J. J. Dorris Passes Away at Home Near Thurber, Nov. 15


J. J. Dorris, one of Erath county's oldest citizens, passed away at his home in the Liberty community Sunday morning, Nov. 15, and funeral services were conducted at Exray Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. Ernest Ulmer, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Stephenville officiating. Interment in the cemetery at that place followed the last rites which were held at the grave.


Mr. Dorris was born in Tennessee on Feb. 10, 1855, but came to Texas many years ago, settling in the northern part of the county.  He will be remembered by people in that section as a good neighbor and a man who was always willing  to lend able assistance in the promotion of any cause that was for the upbuilding of his community.


Surviving him are his wife and the following children; Sletis, Harlan, Berlin, Kirby, Johnson, and Cone Dorris, all of West Texas and New Mexico; Mrs. Joe Johnson of Dallas, Mrs. Arville Wright of Pittsburgh, Pa., Mrs. Ethel Brown of Fort Worth and Mrs. Robert Hooe of San Francisco, California.


All the children of this deeply beloved and highly respected citizen who had reached the ripe old age of seventy-six years, were present for the funeral with the exception of three sons, Berlin, Kirby, and Johnson Dorris and two daughters; Mrs. Wright and Mrs. Hooe.


Brinkle Trewitt, undertaker with the H. H. Hardin Undertaking Company of this city, had charge of all funeral arrangements.

    Mr. Dragoo, a native of Alturas, was born, November 15, 1941, and had lived in Redding about 20 years.  He had spent much time during the past six years at his mining claim in the Big Flat area, and was
a gold miner.

  Private family services were held for Lenver Thomas Dragoo, 81,  of Chico, who died Wednesday in a local convalescent hospital.
  He was born Jan. 19, 1908, in London, Texas, to Lon and Lula Dragoo. Raised in London, he later move to New Mexico.  On Jan. 19, 1937, he and his wife, Selena, were married. They lived the past 20 years in Tehama, coming to Chico two months ago.
  Dragoo was a member of the Trappers Association and the First Baptist Church in Gerber.
  Survivors include two daughters, Karen McKinney of Orlando and Connie Dragoo of Anderson; two sons, Clyde of Fall River and Dale of Alturas; two brothers, Lonzo of Gerber and Leonard of Ozona, Texas; and 11 grandchildren.
  His wife died in 1988 and another brother, Keith, died in 1986.
  Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
  Van Hook Funeral Chapel handled the arrangements.

A native of Texas, Driggers had lived in Fresno 28 years.  He was a truck driver for Pacific Cement & Aggregates until his retirement.


Driggers is survived by his widow, Billie E.; a daughter, Mrs. Greg Foraker of Fresno; a son, Michael of Fresno, and three sisters, Mrs. George Hendrix of Texas, Mrs. A. E. Plummer of Pine Flat and Mrs. Harry Bowers of Fresno.

She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.

She was a 1947 graduate of Reydon High School. She lived in Amarillo for about 30 years. She was supervisor of housekeeping at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo for 17 years. After retiring, she moved back to Oklahoma and had lived in Tecumseh since 1994. She was preceded in death by a son, Ivan Leroy Eagleston III. The daughter of William Jasper Clayton and Mahala Fulfer, she was born Oct 18, 1902, in Charleston. (Delta Co., TX). She and John T. Earwood were married Dec. 14, 1924 in the Horton Community near Commerce.


Mrs. Earwood moved from Commerce to Fort Worth in 1957 and to Athens in 1981. She was a member of the North Fort Worth Baptist Church.


Surviving are two daughters, Nadine Martin and Wanda Cato, both of Irving; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces  and nephews.


Pallbearers are Marvin Andrews, Scott Andrews, Donald Cato, Tommy Cato, James Cato and Johnny Earwood.  Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Earwood, William Earwood, and Timothy Earwood.

Mrs. Fleishman died Friday in a Tyler hospital.


She was a native of Rush Springs, Oklahoma and had lived in Tyler for thirty nine years.

Funeral services for Jack Fleishman, 68, who died Tuesday, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lloyd James Funeral Chapel.

Military graveside services will be conducted at Rose Hill Cemetery.


Mr. Fleishman, owner of the Town House Restaurant resided at 2500 West Erwin. He died at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday in a Tyler hospital after a short illness. He had been a resident of East Texas since 1931 when he moved to Arp. He resided there until moving to Tyler in 1946.


Mr. Fleishman was a lifetime member of the American Legion and was a member of the Legion's 40 & 8, was president of the Tyler Elks Club, a  member of the Rotary Club and the Restaurant Association.


The family has requested that memorials be in the form of gifts to the Heart Fund or to any charity.


Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Millie Fleishman of Tyler; two brothers and three sisters.


Pallbearers are W. R. (Billy) Newman, Carl Madsen, Lynn Ray, J. B. Murray, W. I. (Bill) Parker, J. C. Estes, Paul W. Jackson and James Ingram.

Edith Matthews Fleming, 95, died Friday, March 6, 1998, in her Thornberry, Texas, home.


Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Thornberry Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Lawson, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Charlie, Texas, Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.


Mrs. Fleming was born Nov. 16, 1902, in Delta County, Texas.  She was a homemaker and a member to the Thornberry Baptist Church, where she was the organist and a former pianist. She was the Women's Missionary Union president for many years and received a 50-year certificate for playing for Vacation Bible School.  She was a princess for the Clay County Pioneer Reunion in 1969.  Her husband, William Marvin Fleming Sr., died in 1962. A son, William Marvin Jr., died in 1934.


Survivors include a daughter, Joan Dowdy of Thornberry; three sisters, Clara Bessie Crumpler and Loretta Kiser, both of Wichita Falls, and Onetta Marshal of Brownwood, Texas; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.


The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 this evening for visitation.  


Memorials may be made to the Thornberry Baptist Church Association.

Ethel M. Fletcher, 80, who had lived in Hoquiam for many years, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, in Grays Harbor Community Hospital at Aberdeen.
Mrs. Fletcher was born Apr,9, 1919 at Great Falls, Mont., to James Gus and Rebecca Jane (Fulfer) Poppos. In 1922, her family moved to Hoquiam, and she had lived there ever since.
She graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1938.
For many years, she worked at a Hoquiam bakery owned by her father.
On Nov. 6, 1944, she married Lane L. Fletcher in Hoquiam. He died in 1991.
During the 1950s, the couple had their own horses. They also enjoyed camping on the Harbor.
Mrs. Fletcher was a frequent customer at the Oriole Cafe in Hoquiam. She belonged to the Hoquiam Elks, Eagles and American Legion auxiliaries.
For many years, she was a cat fancier.
Survivors include a nephew who had cared for her, Mark S. of Olympia.
A funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
A concluding service, with vault interment, will follow in Hoquiam's Sunset Memorial Park.

  She was born Dec. 28, 1910, in Hopkins County, the daughter of J. D. and Annie Clayton Moreland. She married Clyde Follis on June 7, 1930 in Hugo, Okla.  He preceded her in death in 1972.
  Mrs. Follis was a housewife and a member of the Methodist church.
  Survivors include a daughter, Betty Holley of the Shirley Community; three grandchildren, Rickey Jetton of Yantis, Jerry Jetton of Winnsboro, and Joy Shing of Sulphur Springs; eight great-grandchildren; one brother; Orville Moreland of Commerce; and a sister Kana Lou Arnold of Fort Worth.
  She was also preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Sunday from Crosier-Pearson Chapel in Cleburne with interment in Buel Cemetery.   Mrs. Forsyth was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the  pastor of that church and Rev.  Virgil Pace  officiated.     Mrs. Forsyth is survived by her

Shady Grove--Funeral services for Jodie Fortenbury will be at 2 p.m. today  at Shady Grove Baptist Church with burial in Shady Grove Cemetery. Rev. Robert Baldridge will officiate.


A resident of the Shady Grove community, Mr. Fortenbury died Tuesday in Paris. He was 76.


The son of Edgar David and Ollie Mary Turner Fortenbury, he was born Oct. 22. 1919, in Commerce.  He married Marie Fulfer Turner in Greenville on Dec. 6, 1945.  They had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1995.


Mr. Fortenbury lived most of his life in the Commerce and Shady Grove communities.  He graduated from public school.   He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served during the World War II.  He was equipment manager in the physical education department at East Texas State University for almost 24 years. He retired in 1990. He was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church for 40 years, where he was a deacon and was a member of the Adult Class.


Survivors include his wife, Marie Fortenbury of Shady Grove; daughter and son-in-law, Ann Marie and Cloyce Robnett of Commerce;  sister, Bernice Keeth of Irving; brother, Carson Fortenbury of Commerce; four grandchildren, Jana and Bill Kerlee of Clovis N.M., Jay Robnett, Julie and Bubba Jones, all of Commerce, Jodie and Nichol Robnett of Cumby; and seven great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.


Pemberton Funeral Home, Commerce, in charge.


Pallbearers, will be Jay Robnett, Jodie Robnett, Bill Kerlee, Harold "Bubba" Jones, Jack Wall and Bob Woodworth.  Deacons of Shady Grove Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

- Life History of Charley FOSTER: Charley, son of Clay and Cynthia GARRETT FOSTER, was born in Foster twp., Sept. 12, 1870, and departed this life February 16, 1938, age 67 years, 5 months, and 14 days. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Viola FULFER, March 27, 1937. On October 24, 1937, he united with the Church of God, in Kinmundy, and never lost an opportunity to render service in the Master's cause. He was a good neighbor and highly esteemed by the entire community. He leaves to mourn their loss, a devoted wife, two step-daughters, who idolized their father, a sister, Mrs. Jake THOMAS, of Couer Delaine, Idaho, many other relatives and a host of friends. One brother, Emery FOSTER, and one sister, Enola WILLIAMS preceded him in death. A home is sad because of his departure, a community feels their loss, but Heaven is made more ready for the coming of those who follow his example. "Sunset and evening star. And one clear call for me. And may there be no moaning of the bar; When I put out to sea. For tho' from out our borne of time and place; The flood may bear me far; I hope to see my Pilot face to face; When I have crossed the Bar." The funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Church of God, Rev. C.L. ASHBY, officiating. Interment was made in Sandy Branch Cemetery.

Services for Robert D. Foster, 69, of Odessa are scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Foster died Wednesday at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Nov. 26 1921, in Bettier?.  He married Bonnie Wayne Fulfer Dec. 21, 1979, in Odessa.


Mr. Foster came to Odessa in 1951 from Abilene. He owned Foster's Used Car Dealership in Carlsbad, N.M., for 26 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Moose Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Church of Christ.


Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert Derrell Foster of Anson, Hershell Glen Foster of Gladewater; a daughter, Patricia A. Goins of Abilene; two step daughters, Betty Hasse Broek of Rapid City, S. D., and Vernna Willeber of Odessa; five stepsons, Lesser Fulfer, Dickie Fulfer, and David Fulfer, all of Odessa, and Rodney Fulfer and Charlie Fulfer,  both of Hesperia, Calif.; a brother, Don S. Foster of Stanford; two sisters, Mamie Lawless of Stanford, and Pauline Stewart of Burleson; 27  grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Dorf E. Garrison, whose home was near Garrison, in southern Roosevelt County, died at his home Friday afternoon.  He was 89.
He was born July 23, 1886 in Marion county, ILL.  He was a farmer, a member of the Baptist church and a resident of the county since 1907.
Garrison is survived by his wife Dale of the home; five sons, Earshal of Tulsa, Okla., Everett of Val Alstin, Texas, Virgil of Las Cruses, Glen and Harold, both of Rogers; and seven grandchildren.
He is also survived by three brothers, Wink, Paul, and John, all of Clovis;  and  one sister, Saletia Patton, also of Clovis.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Wheeler Starlight Chapel, Ernest Wheeler officiating and Crockett Slone officiating. Burial will be in Longs Cemetery.

Glen K. Garrison 64, of the  Garrison-Rogers communities, died Tuesday, Feb.8,1994 at Golden Plains Regional Medical Center-Clovis.  
He was born  Aug.19,1929 in Garrison to  Dale  and D. F. Garrison. He worked with his family in the dairy and farming operation.
He was preceeded in death by both parents; three half brothers: Earshel Garrison, Everett  Garrison  and Virgil Garrison.
Mr Garrison 's survivors include one bRother and sister-n-law,
Harold and Jimmie Garrison of Rogers.
Graveside services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Long
Cemetery in southern Roosevelt County with the Rev. Glen Edwards

Dale Garrison, 89, passed away Wednesday at her home near Rogers.  She was born March 15, 1898, the eighth of nine children to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Newt Fulfer in X-Ray, Texas in Erath County. She was reared there on a farmwhere she made her home with her mother and brothers, and went to school in Huckabee, Texas.
She came to Clovis to visit her sister and got a job at the Clovis steam laundry.  Soon after she met Dorf Garrison, and they were married in Texaco, August 15th, 1924.
In the spring of 1929 they homesteaded the family home near Rogers, and she lived there for the rest of her life. For a number of years they also ran a dairy.  She was a member of the Causey Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons; Glen Garrison and Harold Garrison, and a daughter-in-law Jimmie Lee Garrison, all of Rogers; by two grandchildren Ronnie Garrison and Jolene Garrison, both of Clovis; also by one sister; Kate patterson of Abilene, Texas.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, Dorf Garrison; four brothers, Clem, Kurt, Tate, and Bert Fulfer, and by three sisters; Nannie, Pearl, and Carrie.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the Wheeler Starlight Chapel with Rev. Glenn Edwards, officiating. Burial will be in the Longs Cemetery at the site of her husband.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Juday, Bob Nunnally, James (Buck) Kyle, Vernie Armstrong, Rex Weir and Lanny Gresham. Honorary pallbearers will be all friends and neighbors.
Mrs. Garrison will lie in state until service time.

Hannibal--Inez Fulfer Gordon, 79, Midlothian, died Tuesday June 4.
Services will be at 10 am Saturday, June 8, in First Methodist Church in Midlothian, 800 W. Ninth Street, with the Rev. Carl Freeto officiating.  Graveside services will be at 5 pm Saturday in Hannibal Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm today at Midlothian Funeral Home, 200 E. Ave. E.  Arrangements are under the direction of Midlothian Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gordon was born Sept. 29, 1922, in Hannibal. She was an officer in the Waxahachie Indians square dance club and a member of the Swing Time Center in Fort Worth. She moved to Midlothian in 1986.
She was married to L. H. "Slim" Gordon on Oct. 11, 1942. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Dove Fulfer and three brothers,  Elvis, Tucker and Ralph.
Survivors include two sons, Danny L. Gordon and wife Linda adn (sic) Dickey R. Gordon and wife Mary: four grandchildren and one great grandson.

Mrs. Flora Gore, 52, of Circleback community, died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the West Plains Hospital.


Her funeral is set for Saturday at  10 a.m. in the  Circleback Baptist Church.  Officiating will be the Rev. J. E. Moore of Muleshoe, Rev. Jesse S?aver of Circleback, and Rev. E. K. Shepard of Muleshoe.

PADUCAH - Cobert Gregory, 89, died Friday, March 30, 2001, in Childress.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Garden of Memories Cemetery with the Rev. Keith Prather, pastor of Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Seigler Funeral Home.
  Mr. Gregory was born Jan. 20, 1912, in Wolfe City to Jesse and Daisy Fulfer Gregory. He was a carpenter for many years in the Cottle County area.
 Survivors include a son, Cobert T. Gregory Jr. of Paducah; two daughters, Shirley Bullock and Doris Furguson of Maud; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild

PADUCAH, Texas-Cobert Gregory, 89, of Paducah died Friday, March 30, 2001, in Childress, Texas.
  Mr. Gregory was born Jan. 20, 1912, in Wolfe City, Texas. He was a carpenter and a member of First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena C. Young, on June 4, 1974, and by a grandson.
  Survivors include one son, Cobert T. Gregory Jr. of Paducah; two daughters, Shirley Bullock and Doris Furguson of Maud, Texas; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
  Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Garden of Memories Cemetery with the Rev. Keith Prather officiating. Burial will be under direction of Seigler Funeral Home.

PADUCAH (Special) - Funeral services for Deward N. Gregory Sr., 81, of Paducah will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church. The Rev. Sam Crosby, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Seigler Funeral Home.
He died Friday, May 1, 1998, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 29, 1916, in Greenville. He came to Cottle County in 1928. He married Iva Lee Havins in 1944 in Hollis, Okla. Gregory was a retired farmer and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, D.N. Jr. of Paducah, Roger of Borger and Wesley of Littlefield; one brother, Colbert of Paducah; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
