"Last Rites Held at Exray Church for Mrs. Orville Wright"
Funeral services were held at the Exray church Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home of her sister, Mrs. Eugene
C. Hammel at 3208 Greenbrier St. , Dallas, following a long illness. The body was brought to Stephenville, lying
in state at Trewitt Funeral Home throughout Sunday night until Monday afternoon when it was taken to Exray for the funeral
service. Rev. Minor bounds, pastor of the First Methodist Church, Stephenville, conducted the rites. Pallbearers were B.
F. Drennan, N. F. Mcinroe, Doc Davis, Charles Wyatt, Chester Smith and J. m> Carr. Those assisting with the floral
offering were Maxine Stracener, Joan Armstrong, Ruby Jo SMith, Pat Price and Ann Newman. Interment was made inthe Exray
cemetery. Mrs. Alva Dorris Wright was born September 16, 1904 in Erath County. She was the daugher of John J. Doris and
Ann Fulfer Dorris, who lived in the north part of Erath County for many years. IN July 1929, she was married in Dallas
to Orville Wright, and immediately after their marriage they went to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to make their home. About
eight months ago while on a visit with her sister, Mrs. Eugene C. Hammel in Dallas, she was stricken ill and had not been
able since then to return to her home in Philadelphia, her condition having grown worse during the past few months
ending in her death Sunday. She is survived by her husband, Orville Wirght, two sons, Orville Wright, Jr. , and Wilbur
Wright, and one daughter, Jean Wright, all of Philadelphia, Penn.; four sisters, Mrs. G. L. Massey, Clovis, N.M., Mrs. Wheaton
Brewer, San Francisco, California; Mrs. Joe Paget, Austin, Minn.; Mrs. Eugene C. Hammel, Dallas; six brothers, ______? vis,
N. Mex.( Harlin O and Emmitt); B. A. Dorris, El Paso; Sgt. Cone Dorris, Fort Bliss, Teas; Sgt. T. J. Dorris, Fort Jackson
and J. K. Dorrs, Stephenville.
