Richard Gucker Richard Arnold Gucker, 72, a retired colonel in the Army Reserves, died Sept. 14 at Anne Arundel Medical
Center following a lengthy illness. He lived in Annapolis and previously in Monticello, Ill. Mr. Gucker was born Jan.
3, 1930, in Mattoon, Ill., the son of the late Paul C. and Bernice A. Gucker. He graduated from the University of Illinois
with a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture and a master's degree in urban planning. He also was retired from the
State of Maryland where he was director of local planning. He then became a licensed real estate appraiser. Mr. Gucker
was a member of the Annapolis Yacht Club as well as a member of the Annapolis Power Squadron where he previously served as
its commander. He also was on the board of directors of the SPCA of Anne Arundel County. An avid photographer and artist,
he also enjoyed stained glass and watercolors. Surviving are his wife, LaVerne Gucker; two sons, Douglas Gucker of Cisco,
Ill., and Charles Gucker of Taylors, S.C.; and one granddaughter. Services will be at 9 a.m. Sept. 27 at Arlington National
Cemetery. Participants should arrive at the Administrative Building at 8:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions
may be made to the Annapolis Power Squadron, P.O. Box 453, Annapolis, MD 21404.
