Bernice A. Gucker, 89, of Monticello died 12:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 1989 at Kirby Hospital in Monticello.
Memorial services were held 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, in LFirst Presbyterian Church, Monticello, with Rev. Jim Richards
officiating.
Interment was in Monticello Cemetery.
Mrs. Gucker was born Sept. 8, 1899, in Dietrich, daughter of Wilbur L. and Leah Harris Arnold. She married Paul C. Gucker
June 11, 1921 at Mattoon. He died May 1, 1985.
Surviving are a son, Richard Gucker of Annapolis, Maryland; one daughter, Pauline Blair of Elgin; six grandchildren;
three great-grandchildren; one sister, Bertha Arnold of Effingham
She was preceded in death by one grandchild, two brothers, and one sister.
Mrs. Gucker was a former teacher and retired bookkeeper for Gucker Drug Store in Monticello. She was a member of the
First Presbyterian Church in Monticello where she was a former elder, treasurer and Sunday School teacher. She was a Girl
Scout leader, member of Kirby Hospital Auxiliary; past president of Monticello Garden Club, past president of PTA, member
of Monticello Woman's Club, Studio Painting Club, and the Dutch Club.
Memorials may be amde to the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello.
