Herman Ellithorpe MATADOR - Graveside rites for Herman W. Ellithorpe, 91, of Harker Heights, Texas, will be at 2
p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at East Mound Cemetery in Matador. Officiating will be Rev. Jack Boggs, pastor of First Baptist Church
of Matador. Mr. Ellithorpe died Thursday at his home in Harker Heights. He was born Jan. 29, 1912, in Matador, and married
Ruby Loyd Grace on Dec. 6, 1930, in Clovis, N.M. He held numerous jobs as a young man, including working trap lines, farming,
construction work for the WPA, and working in the shipyard in Oakland, Calif. He served in the Army in World War II, receiving
numerous medals including the Bronze Star and several overseas campaign medals. After returning to Matador, he worked
for a butane company, and later retired from the Texas Highway Department. He was a member of the Baptist church. He was preceded
in death by his parents and two sisters, Alley Lancaster and Hazel Markham. He is survived by his wife; a son, Herman Arvin
Ellithorpe and wife Joy of Harker Heights; two grandchildren, Rochelle Katakey of San Jose, Costa Rica, and Scott Ellithorpe
of Saugus, Calif.; seven great- grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren. The family will receive visitors from 5
to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. ----------
