SUISUN BOAT CAPSIZES--COUPLE DIES
A Coast Guard search for an overdue fishing boat ended early yesterday with the rescue of a Concord man and recovery
of the bodies of a Pacheco couple. The survivor, Phil Rouse, 25, was still clinging to the body of Olean Dalrymple when
a Coast Guard helicopter spotted him at 7:50 a.m., some 15 hours after Rouse's 18-foot craft capsized in the Suisun Bay.
Tied by a line to the overturned boat was the body of Stanley Dalrymple. The Contra Costa County Coroner's Office said the
deaths of the husband and wife, both in their 40s, were caused by drowning. Rouse said the boat capsized Sunday afternoon
when he and Dalrymple attempted to pull free the anchor line which was snagged on the bottom. The three tried to right the
craft, and when that could not be accomplished, they attempted to hold on to it until help arrived. During the night the
waters became rough, and both Dalrymple and his wife drowned, even though Rouse did his best to keep Mrs. Dalrymple from going
under. The Coast Guard started its search late Sunday night when Rouse's wife reported him overdue.
