MATTOON
Marjorie A. Burrell, age 83, of Mattoon, passed away at 7:48 a.m. Tuesday at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home with Dr. John P. Besore III officiating. Interment will be in Campground Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Marjorie was born January 23, 1920 at Mattoon, a daughter of Allison and Grace Attebury Carter. She married Leonard "Mickey" Burrell February 17, 1940 at Clayton, Missouri, he preceded her in death February 25, 1970.
She is survived by her children, Denny Burrell and wife Vicky, Bill Burrell and wife Sheila, Chris Burrell and wife Barb all of Mattoon and Karen White and husband David of Lake Mattoon. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Wendi Haslett, Steve Burrell, Bryan Burrell, Dustin David, Kimberley Burrell, Melissa Burrell, Doug Burrell, Rob Fisher, Marcus Burrell and Kyle Burrell; and eight great-grandchildren.
Two sons, two brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.
Marjorie was a retired cook from the Mattoon Holiday Inn and was a member of the Moose Ladies Auxiliary. In her leisure time, she enjoyed Bingo and playing cards. A very active lady, Marjorie also enjoyed following sports, especially golf and also loved to cook.
Memorial contributions in Marjorie's honor may be made to the Leukemia Foundation, St. Jude's Childrens Hospital or to a charity of the donor's choice.
