Mrs. Virginia L. "Jan" Marler, 72, died on Tuesday at her home southeast of Bartlesville.
Funeral services for Mrs. Marler will be held at 2:00 p.m Saturday at the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
Ralph Dershem officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home.
Casket escorters will include, Eddie Marler, Brandon Marler, David Marler, Stephen Marler, John (JD) Coleman,
Vance Blackwell, Brian Burr, and Basil Bates.
Mrs. Marler was born on February 15, 1931 in Watonga, Oklahoma to Virgil and Maggie (Avants) Fulfer. She moved
to California with her family as a child where she grew up and attended schools. She was married to George Washington Marler,
Sr. on March 29, 1947 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home in California until returning to Oklahoma in 1952 and made
their home in the Bartlesville area. Mr. and Mrs. Marler operated a gas station in Bartlesville for several months until his
employment with Bartlesville Schools as a custodian. Mrs. Marler was employed as a cook at Osage Hill School for several years
until her employment with Bartlesville Public Schools as a cook in the school cafeteria until her retirement. Mr. Marler pro
ceded her in death on April 6, 1998. She was a member of the Home Builders Home Extension Club and active in the choir at
First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Washington County Cattlewoman's Association and a volunteer with Senior
Olympics.
Mrs. Marler, is survived by fours sons: Tommy G. Marler and his wife Kazue of Oxnard, California, George W.
Marler, Jr. of Bartlesville, Jerry L. Marler and his wife Janet of Bartlesville, and Virgil E. Marler and his wife Bess of
Bartlesville, one daughter; Janice Coleman and her husband John of Tahlequah, one brother, Ed Fulfer of Oregon, two sisters;
Elizabeth Martin of Bakersfield, California Doris Jean Gilbreth of Plant City, Florida, 12 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
