George W. Marler of Bartlesville died 5:45pm Monday at Jane Phillips Medical Center. Services pending with Stumpff.

George W. Marler Sr.

George W. Marler, Sr, 71, died at 5:45pm Monday at the Jane Phillips Medical Center.

Services will be 2pm Friday in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Dershem officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home.

A memorial has been established to the Oklahoma Lion's Eye Bank, Northeastern Oklahoma Branch, 1923 South Utica Ave, Tulsa, OK 74104.

Mr Marler was born Feb 22, 1927 at Garfield, Arkansas to Earnest Arthur and Minnie Marie [Black] Marler. He grew up in the Pawnee and Oglesby areas and graduated from Ramona High School. He married Virginia Lee Fuller on March 29, 1947 at Las Vegas, Nev. They made their home in California until returning to Oklahoma in 1952. They made their home in the Bartlesville area since that time. The Marlers operated a service station for a brief period until Mr Marler's employment with the Bartlesville Board of Education where he was employed for 37 years. He was the building engineer at Central, Hoover Elementary and then at Madison Junior High for 32 years until his retirement in 1989. During that time he also was employed as a building engineer at First Baptist Church for 30 years. Since his retirement, Mr Marler was active in fishing and farming. He was a member of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia of the home; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Tommie G and Kazue [spelled as seen-Meg] Marler, Oxnard Calif., George W. Marler, Jr of Bartlesville, Jerry L and Janet Marler of Bartlesville and Virgil E and Bess Marler of Bartlesville; a Daughter and son-in-law, Janice and John Coleman of Odessa, Texas; three sisters, Sarah Bell Pugh of Nowata, Mary Ann Cranor of Bartlesville and Vivian Billbe of Bartlesville, 12 Grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr Marler was proceeded in death by his parents
