John Franklin Fulfer, prominent pioneer of Hunt County died at the family home at South Sulphur May 11. He departed
this life at the age of 79 years. Death was attributed to paralysis.
Funeral services were held from the south Sulphur Baptist Church with Rev. E. G. Nelson and W. W. Rogers officiating.
Burial was in South Sulphur Cemetery.
Mr. Fulfer was born near Commerce and moved to South Sulphur community at the age of where he resided until
his death.
In the year of 1879 he married Miss Sallie Wood who preceded him in death. To this union nine children were
born of which six survived: John Wesley Fulfer of Shafter Calif.; Sam Fulfer of Ladonia; Luther Fulfer of Fairlie; Mrs. A.L.
White of Joplin, MO; Mrs. W. H. Holland of Keokuk, Iowa; Mrs. Ima Gore, of Snyder, Texas.
Nov. 16, 1908, he was married to Mrs. Mary Cox. She and her four children survive: Dean Cox, of Dallas; Bryan
Cox, C.W. Cox, Mrs. N.A. Griffin, all of South Sulphur.
A conscientious Christian Mr. Fulfer was a member of the Christian Church and had been a faithful follower of
the Master's teaching. He was a splendid citizen in every respect. Widely known throughout this section. He has hundreds of
friends who will bow their heads in sorrow because of his passing. In his passing, we lost one of South Sulphur's finest pioneers,
a kind and noble friend, a true Christian gentleman.
Particularly will be missed in the family circle where he so long presided as kind and loving father. The children
and step children he reared are a tribute to the father and the principles he inculcated in them from earliest childhood.
He set a splendid copy for all to follow.
The great God saw and knew his earthly deeds were well completed and he only called him home to rest. The day may seem
long and dreary now since his going away, but there is always the comforting thought that he is waiting for us on the other
side. Earth is poorer but Heaven is richer by his going away. O'all is well.
