SANSOM PARK - Leona Hogge Bivens, 88, a homemaker, died Tuesday at a Fort Worth hospital.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Thursday at Biggers Funeral Home. Burial: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Officiating will be
her son-in-law, Rev. Joe Addington; her pastor, Dr. Jerry D. Locke, and her friend, Rev. Larry Adkisson.
Leona Hogge Bivens was born April 14, 1908, near Wichita Falls.
She lived in the Fort Worth area more than 58 years and was a member of Lake Worth Baptist Church. She was preceded
in death by her husband of 50 years, Ralph L. Hogge, her parents, Ida and Albert Matthews, one brother and two sisters.
She loved the Lord and was a church pianist/organist more than 70 years. At the age of 17, she came to Fort
Worth to enroll at Southwestern Baptist Seminary to pursue her love of music. She was devoted to her family, loved to read,
travel, had a delightful sense of humor and was a tremendous encourager to those around her.
Pallbearers: Grandsons, Randy and Ricky Addington, Terry and Doug Wharton, and great-grandsons, Joshua and Matthew
Addington.
Survivors: Daughters, Jackie Addington and Linda Wharton, both of Fort Worth; brother, Albert Matthews
of Wichita falls; sisters, Edith Fleming, Bessie Crumpler, Loretta Kyser and Onetta Marshall, all of Wichita
Falls; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and a host of beloved friends. Biggers Funeral Home
