Funeral Is Held At Exray Church For Mrs. Newt Fulfer

 

Trewitt Funeral Home directed arrangements at the funeral services held at the Presbyterian church at Exray Wednesday afternoon Feb. 14 at 3 o'clock for Mrs. Newt Fulfer, 81, who died at her home in the Exray community Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 13, at 1:55 o'clock, her death following an eight week' s illness.

 

Rev. S. G. Stewart, pastor of First Presbyterian church, Stephenville, led the service, which was attended by a large number of relatives and friends of the family. Some of her favorite hymns were sung at the rites, and afterwards the body was laid to rest in the Exray cemetery. Pallbearers were Luther, Tess, and Elvis Fulfer, Vance Moring, and Mike Davis. Assisting with the floral offerings were Mrs. Ruby Venable, Mrs. Johnnie Wylie, and Miss Inez Fulfer.

 

Mrs. Cordelia Martin Fulfer, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dick Davis, was born March 24, 1858, in Cass County, Texas. She was married in Hunt County on July 27, 1875, to Newt Fulfer. Four years after their marriage they came to Erath County, settling in the Exray community where she had since made her home, having lived there for nearly 60 years. Her husband died at their Exray home 18 years ago, leaving her with a large family of sons and daughters. Two of the sons, Curtis and Tate Fulfer were living with their mother at the old home, where she was stricken ill eight weeks ago and where her death occurred.

 

She was known and loved by all who lived in the community and will be greatly missed by everyone there, especially by members of the Exray Presbyterian church of which she had long been a member.

 

Surviving her are four sons and five daughters, Bert Fulfer of Hannibal; Mrs. Pearl Williams and Mrs. Nannie Lattimer of Stephenville; Mrs. Carrie Foster of Fort Worth; Clem Fulfer of Idalou, Texas; Mrs. Kate Patterson of Hannibal; Mrs. Dale Garrison, who lives in New Mexico, and two sons, Curtis and Tate Fulfer, of the home. She also is survived by 19 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; one brother, Mal Davis of Mingus; one sister, Mrs. Ann Fulfer of Matador, and a large number of other relatives.
