Betty and her family moved to Texas from Tennessee when she was a child. Her formal education was but a few years but she was a S. S. teacher and a great seamstress. She covered furniture, did crochet and embrodery work.  She enjoyed being with people and loved to go places. She was helpful when there were illlnesses or deaths in the community. She also helped with showeres and other social functions.  She was depended on by the ladies in the community and Church.  They kept the Harmon Church for a few years so she could continue to go.
