Funeral services for Marie Hillin Buetow, 85, of Houston, formerly of Rockdale, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Doug Springer of Rockdale Full Gospel Church officiating. Burial was in IOOF Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mrs. Buetow died Tuesday, Feb. 18, in a Brazoria nursing facility.

A resident of Houston since 1968, she was born Sept. 5, 1917, in Milam County to Jefferson Davis and Maggie (Driggers) Hillin.

She married A.C. Buetow in November 1932 in Thorndale.

Mrs. Buetow was an oncology nurse at Methodist Hospital in Houston, retiring in 1982.

Preceding her in death were her husband, A.C. Buetow, on Nov. 16, 1969; two sons, Preston and Larry Buetow; her parents; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Smith Buetow; a daughter, Bessie Carpenter; a grandson, Alan Boyd; a great-grandson, Sloan Bexley; also, eight sisters and five brothers.

Survivors are a son, Billy Buetow and wife Pat of Lexington; three daughters, Evelyn Boyd and husband Frank of Alvin, Pat Wheeler and husband Tom of Houston, and Linda Woods of Danbury; a son-in-law, Gene Carpenter of Danbury; a sister, Alice Williams of Dallas; also, ten grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
