John William Holliday

John William Holliday died Wednesday evening, May 5, 1954. He became ill a short time before his death. Holliday
served from 1939-1951 as a custodial employee of the Rockdale Post Office. He was retired on disability and for the past two
years had been a patient at various times in McCloskey hospital.
He was born at Sand Grove (near Rockdale) on September 15, 1894, a son of Mandy and John Holliday. He was a
veteran of WWI and a member of the American Legion.
Survived by his wife, Mrs. John Holliday; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Toeliner of Austin and Mrs. Lewis Owen
of Miami Springs, Florida; five grandchildren, Nacy, Debra and Barbara Owen, and Ann and Robert Toeliner.
He had four sisters and four brothers; Mrs. Mamie Hill, Mrs. Myrtle Small, Mrs. Bob Yoakum, Mrs. Doris Lohse,
James Holliday, Robert Holliday, Claude Henderson, and Floyd Henderson.
Funeral services are Friday (May 7) at 2:30 by Phillips & Luckey Chapel. Burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery with
taps sounded.
