Lucinda Frances Hankins
For the second time in two weeks the death angel has called to one of a family of nine children, who all reached
the age of more tahn(than) 75 years.
Lucinda Frances Hankins, 2nd daughter of Geroge W. and Mary Quinn Fulfer was born near Louisville Ky. on November
27, 1848 and departed this life at Akron, O., October 15, 1935, having almost reached the age of 87. When she was a very small
child, the family moved to southern, Ind., where they lived until 1877, then moving in covered wagons to Marion Co., Illinois
a jurney (journey) that took two weeks time. There she met James W. Hankins, to whom she was wed in 1882.
To this union, 6 children were born, one of whom died in infancy. The others; Jennie, Luella, Mae, John, and
Maude grew to manhood and womanhood in Moultrie County, where the family home had been established. Here in Arthur all the
children passed away with the exception of Mae, who married Troy J. Buxton and now lives in Akron, Ohio, at whose home the
mother died. Her companion proceded her in death, having been laid away in 1923.
Survivors beside the daughter are the son-in-law, 2 granddaughters, Mrs. Lucille Kemp and Mary Frances Buxton
of Akron, the grand-son-in-law and 4 sisters. They are Mary Jean, of Arthur, Elizabeth Hankins, of Kinmundy, Ill., Dora Lane,
of Champaign, Ill, and Ellen Walker of Russiaville, Ind. There is also a large number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hankins was a member of the Arthur Baptist church with which she had affiliated herself in early life.
Her life was one of devotion to her family, especially the son, who was an invalid for 15 or 20 years and during her own 3
1/2 year period of illness she was patient and uncomplaining, never once asking that her lot be different from what it was.
