Ethel M. Fletcher, 80, who had lived in Hoquiam for many years, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, in Grays Harbor Community Hospital at Aberdeen.

Mrs. Fletcher was born Apr,9, 1919 at Great Falls, Mont., to James Gus and Rebecca Jane (Fulfer) Poppos. In 1922, her family moved to Hoquiam, and she had lived there ever since.

She graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1938.

For many years, she worked at a Hoquiam bakery owned by her father.

On Nov. 6, 1944, she married Lane L. Fletcher in Hoquiam. He died in 1991.

During the 1950s, the couple had their own horses. They also enjoyed camping on the Harbor.

Mrs. Fletcher was a frequent customer at the Oriole Cafe in Hoquiam. She belonged to the Hoquiam Elks, Eagles and American Legion auxiliaries.

For many years, she was a cat fancier.

Survivors include a nephew who had cared for her, Mark S. of Olympia.

A funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.

A concluding service, with vault interment, will follow in Hoquiam's Sunset Memorial Park.
